Prepare, blend, apply, and compact the selected aggregate using the method and tools specified for the project.
Good work has to look right at handover, but it also has to be something your client can live with. TrailBinder offers a renewable approach to aggregate stabilization, with periodic reapplication as use and conditions require.
Your client may have chosen decomposed granite for its appearance, but you are responsible for building a pathway that handles everyday use. TrailBinder works within a conventional aggregate construction process, provided the material, base, and weather conditions are appropriate.
The aim is not to promise a surface that never needs maintenance. It is to create a good finished result, and to give the owner a practical way to renew it later.
You should be able to work with familiar tools and locally sourced materials, while accounting for site preparation and curing instead of treating the binder as a shortcut around them.
Prepare, blend, apply, and compact the selected aggregate using the method and tools specified for the project.
Keep the character of regionally available gravel or decomposed granite, subject to aggregate compatibility.
Use the published instructions to check mixing, application temperatures, drying windows, and site conditions before starting.
Enter the dimensions of a pathway to get a preliminary quantity of TrailBinder concentrate. Add another area for a project with multiple paths; these figures are planning estimates, not a final quotation.
Total surface: — · Mixing water: —
Estimate includes a 10% area safety factor, then coverage of 52 sq ft per gallon at 3 inches or 40 sq ft per gallon at 4 inches, plus a separate edge-treatment allowance based on path perimeter. Actual yield varies with aggregate and application conditions.
A useful schedule includes more than application time. Crew size, site access, aggregate handling, and weather all affect the work, so use this as an early planning exercise rather than a commitment.
*Anchored gravel grid estimate is hands-on-install only, and does not include its required subsurface installation and engineering, which can substantially increase installation cost and complexity.
PolyFirm does not necessitate sub-surface preparation beyond light compaction in some cases.
Start with the substrate and drainage, not the binder. Confirm weather conditions and material compatibility before mixing, and give the finished surface the drying time it needs.
PolyFirm is installed from a standing posture. Beyond optional masking, it does not require any work on hands and knees at ground level.
Establish drainage, grading, and compaction before treating the wearing surface.
Blend according to the current instructions, adjusting only where the documentation permits.
Work the treatment through the aggregate and finish with the specified sequence.
Keep traffic off the treated area until it has dried and met the specified reopening conditions.
Bring your dimensions, aggregate selection, location, and proposed schedule into the conversation. The site calculator can help prepare that information.
